egg relay game
Kids are enjoying the egg relay games for kids party

This game is a test of balancing skills and coordination. Hard-boiled eggs and tablespoons are the props needed for this typical party game. Have the children lined up with an egg and a spoon? Instruct them to place the egg onto their spoon and race across to the finish line without holding on and dropping the eggs. If an egg falls, that child will start the race all over again. The first person to reach the finish line without dropping their eggs wins!

As a rule, there are no winners or losers in this game, and there is no end either. Once everybody has had a couple of turns in the middle, and before everybody gets bored then you can end the game and proceed to another one. The mechanics of this game is: Start by making a circle of chairs, bean bags or pillows, with enough seats for everyone except the birthday child. The birthday child stands in the middle and says “What I would like for my birthday is ___”, and finishes with something that other children in the room have.

It may be a red wallet, a key, a boy with blue eyes, a girl on a green T-shirt, blonde hair, freckles, glasses, etc. Any kid who have what the birthday child requests, must jump out of their chair and swap with someone else who also has the same thing. While all this is happening, the birthday child sits in an empty chair and someone misses out on their seat. That person then becomes the child in the middle, and the game starts again.

This is a typical party game but it is still one of the best sellers in birthday parties. With some innovations, it actually gets better in time. Children just go crazy trying to get to that bar of chocolate in the middle, even if they have been scoffing treats the whole day already. The game goes like this: All the kids sit around in a circle. In the centre of the circle is a bar of chocolate, a knife and fork, a pair of rubber gloves, a really silly hat and a kitchen apron.

Each child takes a turn to roll the dice on the floor in front of them, if they don’t roll a double they pass on around the circle to their left. If a child does roll a double, they leap into the centre of the circle, put on the gloves, hat and apron, and start to unwrap and eat the bar of chocolate – of course, they can only use the knife and fork. This game carries loads of fun, and often gets a little crazy.

Chocolate game

This game for kids party is best for a zoo themed party or safari themed party. But can fit in any theme because this game is so much fun. The game goes like this. Simply whisper the name of an animal into each child’s ear, making sure you give each animal’s name to at least 2 children. On the count of three, your guests start behaving like their animal (using noises and actions) and try to find a person in the room behaving the same way.

You could have a prize for the first pair to find each other, but for this age group perhaps it is better to have something small for everyone once they have found their partner. If you have a small group you can make it harder by blindfolding all the participants and relying on just the animal sounds. In an extra-large group, you could give 3 or 4 children the same animal, so that they have to form a team, rather than just a pair.

This is an educational puzzle game, the kind of game where the kids enhance their reasonable concentration span at the same time, enjoy the game. Put approximately 6 – 12 everyday items onto a breakfast tray, (depending on the ages of your guests), and make sure the children all know what they are. If you have a theme for your party, you could make sure all the items fit in with your theme.

Show the breakfast tray to the party guests, and ask them to try to remember everything in their head. Once they have had a few minutes to take a mental picture, take the tray out of the room and remove one or two items. When you bring the tray back into the room, the children can take turns trying to guess what is missing. The child who guesses correctly gets to put the items back on the tray, and remove something different for everyone to figure out.

This game for kids party is about acting out an action or thing, rather than trying to portray the whole movie title word for word. Depending on your guests, this game for kids party will be an instant hit or a complete failure, so the key is to keep it simple and get involved yourself. If you have a theme, then choosing what the guests act out is easy, but if there is no theme to follow think of things that everybody will know and relate to. Instead of having the ‘guessing child’ automatically win by taking the next turn, make sure everybody gets a turn at the front.

Write out the ‘acts’ onto slips of paper, and have children draw one out of the hat. Some great ‘acts’ for this age group are: Licking an ice cream, Brushing my hair, Kicking a ball, Shooting a goal, Brushing my teeth, Driving a car, Riding a skateboard, Reading a book, Having a drink. You could make up certificates for different categories such as funniest performance, a most reluctant star, and of course – drama queen, or king, as the case may be.

fishing games

Gather together small, light prizes such as stickers, small notepads, and pencils. Slide a giant paper clip over each prize, and lay them in your ‘fish pond’. A fish pond could be a paddling pool, a big box, or simply a rug on the floor. Give each child a fishing rod with a magnet at the end of the line, and let them go fishing for their prize. To make it harder you could blindfold your guests, or get them to fish from over a stair landing or balcony so they can’t see what they are fishing for. But the focal point of this game is the prize, so that will make it an instant favourite.

For Kids ages 10 and up

This party game is an old-time favourite for the tweenies and teens. Write at least 20 truths separately on individual pieces of paper, likewise with the dares. Place them in their respective labelled jar or buckets. Each kid will take turns in choosing the TRUTH or the DARE bucket. They will need to complete their tasks until all of the papers have been used. Once the game is over, give each player a small prize or token for being so valiant!

This is perfect for a tween or teen sleepover birthday bash because the number one requirement to enable them to play this game is: it should be dark outside. Just like the traditional game “Capture the Flag”, the mechanics are almost the same. The only difference is the props which are the flag. In this game, glow sticks are used as flags. You will need 2 different coloured glow sticks and enough matching glow bracelets for each team. Divide the players into two teams and give them the bracelets that match their glow sticks.

An area of play should be designated for two teams, dividing the area into two using a rope or a line of shoes and have the teams hide their “flag” on their own side. Each team has to find the opposing team’s flag and bring it back in their own side of the playing area. Players are free to run around anywhere, but be careful not to get caught in the other team’s section or you could be tagged and sent to “jail”. If a teammate is in jail, another teammate can free them by going over and bringing them back to home base without being caught or tagged. The first team to capture their opponent’s glow stick is considered the winner.

There should be two teams regardless of how many kids in the team. Give each one phone with protective cases on the phone. Give the teams a list of things they need to capture photos of, in order to win. For example, a picture of anything blue, a photo of one teammate giving another teammate a piggyback ride, or a selfie of everyone in front of a particular tree. In this game, be imaginative and resourceful. Whichever team completes the list first, is declared the winner.

This is fun! We need 3 kinds of props, Balloons of two different colours, two hats with pins sticking out of the top of the hat. The mechanics: Tie the balloons at several heights from the ceiling. They should be at least high enough that the kids are able to pop them with their heads. To start the game, one player from each team is given a hat to put on and 15 seconds to try and pop as many as possible, of their team’s balloons. When their 15 seconds ends the next players from each team are given 15 seconds to try. A new player from each team tries to pop the balloons every 15 seconds. The first team to pop all of their balloons is declared the winner.

Kids of all ages

Kids when they are at a birthday party never get bored as long as there are lots of games for kids party and activities. It seems they have no plans of going back home, and just party the whole day through. Usually the last half hour at a birthday party, the near goodbyes moment seems to break the heart of the kiddos.  Games for kids party will be interrupted by parents coming back to pick up the kids. As soon as the goody bag is distributed, other kids are still running around expecting another game to begin.

This game “Hide the Treat Bag” is one way to calm down the kids, and give them something to do while waiting for their ride home. Every kid should sit on the floor. One child is chosen to leave the room while another child is tasked to hide the treat bag (of course in the same room where the party is). The child who has left the room is called back and starts looking for the bag. All of the children participate by saying “Warm, Warmer, Hot” when the child is nearing the hidden bag. Or “Cold, Colder, Freezing” when the child is moving away from the hidden bag.

This will encourage every kid to participate. But be sure each child gets a turn at finding a treat bag. When a parent arrives to collect their child, call the child next to leave the room and return to search for his treat bag. It only takes a few seconds, the most is a minute for each child. This game for kids party is a great way to end the party!
